Blues great John Primer got inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame. As such, he became a member of the "Living Legends" as he is the only living inductee into the Hall. He came down to the studio during the Nooner with Ric & ElJay. Not only that, his daughter Aliya made an appearance with a song and her great story as well. You'll be shocked when you find out how old this lady is and what a great future she has ahead of her.

The last surviving member of Junior Kimbrough's band spent a few moments in the studio with Ric & ElJay during Radio Memphis in The Morning and told some stories about his days with Junior. He also played some music live on the air. Also, his rather surprising response to the question, "Do you still like to get out and play?"

The Granddaughter of the Great Willie Dixon paid Ric & ElJay a visit during Radio Memphis in The Morning to catch up with the boys and drop her latest single. A great conversation was had and the talk of her moving to Memphis seemed to be taken rather seriously.

Comedians Kristen Becker and Katrina Coleman popped into the Radio Memphis studios to talk about an upcoming show in here Memphis. (Dru's Bar Saturday Night at 8PM CT) Kristen is working her Dykotomy Tour and has some very funny and honest takes on the things happening in the world. Especially against the LGBTQ+ community. 

 

 

Drag is not a crime and one of the premiere drag performers Micah Winter-Cole is here to prove the point. Drag Shows are just a part of show business as any other performance. With the recent laws from the Tennessee Governor Bill Lee, (Check out his website. No, really.) the notion of making Drag Shows a crime is ridiculous. Not to mention an infringement on the 1st Amendment. Here's Micah with more.

2023 started with the loss of Memphis musician and blues man Butch Mudbone. In this very special recording, most of the staff of Radio Memphis sat down with some friends of Butch and members of his family to pay homage to our friend. In this recording, you'll hear his celebration as it happened on the air. Music, family stories, and fond remembrances from those who's lives he touched. You'll also hear about the serious impact Butch Mudbone made on the music community.  

Max Kaplan & The Magics brought their sound to Radio Memphis during a Wednesday Night Special where they brought songs from their new record and played live on the air. Ric & ElJay sat back and let the sound travel around the world where some folks in New Jersey (and a certain BBQ joint there) became part of the show.

 

 

Melika Miller and her band Soulful Explosion drops into the Radio Memphis studios for an appearance on The Booze & Blues. Nora Childers sat in for Natalie that night. You'll hear cuts from her forthcoming album as well as some stuff with band played live on the air. Here is the show. 

From a rather unique situation, Ric welcomed this fine group of young musicians who participated in the International Blues Challenge in The Youth Showcase into the Radio Memphis studios for a live broadcast and the recording of what may become a collection of songs to be released at a later date. Here is how the recording session went along with the songs that may just get released on a special CD. What is not included are the originals that were recorded at Pirate Radio Recording after this show. For that collection, you'll just have to wait. But, this should get you started with this outstanding talented young players.

During the Radio Memphis New Year's Eve live broadcast, the band Strawberry Handshake played for a while. Here is their set as we began to close out the year that was 2022.
