Saturday, 28 October was the Radio Memphis Halloween Special. There was a lot of fun that night including this conversation and performance from Kazha. D and Ric sat down with Kazuha Oda from the band to have a talk about Japanese culture and rock & roll. Plus several tunes were played live on air with the band. Robert "Nite Bob" Czaykowski - Road Crew Radio - Memphis Metal Mondays - RMOD

D got a phone call from sound engineer  Robert "Nite Bob" Czaykowski on Monday night (OCT 23rd) during Radio Memphis - Memphis Metal Mondays.

 

A legendary sound engineer with over 44 years in the music business, Robert “Nite Bob" Czaykowski has toured the world with some of the greatest names in music…including Aerosmith, Garland Jeffries, R.E.M., Kiss, The New York Dolls, Iggy and the Stooges, Ted Nugent, Steely Dan, Badlands, Hanoi Rocks, Rich Robinson, Alana Davis and Linda Eder to just scratch the surface of the enormous list of artists and bands he has worked with. Nitebob even had the fantastic opportunity to work with Paul Rodgers when Paul performed the “Royal Sessions” at Royal Albert Hall in London, U.K. to present his "...R&B music fantasy come true.” backed by Memphis musicians.

 

Having done global touring with music, trade shows, consulting, film shoots and TV as well as being the front of the house engineer, a guitar technician, a production manager and a tour manager, Nite Bob has seen and heard it all. He’s also probably one of the guys who wrote the book about being in the right place at the right time.

 

What you may not know about Nite Bob is that if you ask him how he really got started in the business, he will tell you that it was purely by accident.

Evan Grey - Road Crew Radio - Around the World

Saturday October 21st during Radio Memphis Around the World, D got a phone call from Los Angeles, California at 1:30 PM CT from Evan Grey.

 

With her 20+ years of experience as a Producer & Logistics Production Manager in the live event/concert industry, Evan Grey has done everything from the ‘Opening and Closing Ceremonies’ of the Olympics, to product launches for Microsoft, to coordinating and executing some very extensive shows for the automotive and technology, as well as, the Pharmaceutical industries and so much more.

 

Evan has been a part of major productions with music acts like the Alabama Shakes, The Black Keys, Morning Parade, Eclectic Method, Jon Bon Jovi, Imagine Dragons and Train, and she’s been able to help big events like the VMware Global Parties and special events, the ‘BOMA of Greater Los Angeles’ 100th Anniversary Bash'. ‘GoDaddy.com’s “All American” Themed Holiday Party’. and the ‘Shrine Auditorium Gala Awards Dinner’ come to life. Evan has even been recognized by BizBash MAGAZINE with awards for “Best Special Event” and “Producer of the Year” for VM Ware, as well as, “Best in Logistics” and “Best in Spectacle” for her projects.

D caught up with Bumblefoot for a live phone interview on Monday, October 16th during Memphis Metal Mondays to talk about his career and his current projects, including his lastest venture with Sons Of Apollo​ and to hear what advice he just might have for up and coming artists.  As it turns out, Phil joins D and they have Bumblefoot's friend Matt Healy stop in as a surprise to say hello.  Things wind up coming off the hinges for this absolutely crazy and candid conversation.

Joe Gannon - Road Crew Radio - Radio Memphis Around the World

Saturday, October 14th during Radio Memphis Around the World​, D is got a phone call from Maui, Hawaii at 1:30 PM CDT from Joe Gannon.

Being a native from Philadelphia, PA, Joe Gannon is probably one of the most influential under-the-radar persons in the music and entertainment business having made his own career as recording producer, director, musical stage lighting and production designer.  He ran Frank Zappa​'s company Bizarre Records, produced records for CBS, Joe had even staged Madonna’s first film appearance. Gannon was one of the first production designers to use moving sets on rock concert tours while working with Neil Diamond​.  Joe took on the responsibilities of being Neil's road manager, lighting director and show consultant in the early 70's and his involvement was credited as the reason for the great improvement in Neil's stage presentations by the time the legendary 1972 ‘Hot August Night’ concert series had hit.  Gannon has traveled the world and worked with such stars as Teddy Pendergrass​, Luther Vandross​, Barry Manilow​, Julio Iglesias​, Kansas​, Blondie​, Diana Ross​ and more... as well as, creating visions for outfits such as MTV.  Joe has had the opportunity to work with almost every entertainer represented by rock-n-roll manager, Shep Gordon, including the shock rocker himself, Alice Cooper​.  Expanding upon creative input from Alice and Shep, Gannon was responsible for turning Cooper's vision into a tangible, three-dimensional nightmare reality of magic and craziness. These set designs resulted in some of the most elaborate stage and light presentations of any rock show, setting a new standard in terms of sheer massive size, which also made them responsible for yet another industry innovation: the rock n roll extravaganza, the ultimate rock show.  The presentation was that one-of-a-kind stage show that generated more press than the music itself.
